Is SpendSmart free?
SpendSmart is distributed on the App Store. Any pricing or in-app purchases will be shown on the App Store product page before you download.
Do I need an account?
No. SpendSmart does not require sign-in. Your budgets, expenses, savings goals, quiz progress, and purchase notes are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple’s standard on-device storage.
Where is my data stored?
All app data stays on your device. We do not operate cloud servers that store your financial information. If you delete the app, your SpendSmart data is removed with it unless you restore from an iPhone backup that includes app data.
How does the need vs want feature work?
When you add a purchase idea in the Think tab, SpendSmart uses on-device machine learning to suggest whether it may be a need or a want. Suggestions are educational—not financial advice—and you can always use your own judgment.
Why are amounts shown in ₹?
SpendSmart formats currency in Indian rupees (₹) throughout the app. This matches the primary audience for the current release.
How do I set or change my monthly budget?
On the Home tab, open Budget Details. You can set your overall monthly budget and optional per-category budgets for Food, Travel, Shopping, Entertainment, Study, Bills, Health, Subscriptions, and Other.
The daily quiz says I already played today
The daily quiz can be completed once per calendar day. Open it again tomorrow for a new set of questions. Completing the quiz also counts toward your daily challenge streak on Home.
How do I delete a savings goal or purchase note?
In Savings, swipe or use the delete control on a goal where available. In Think, open a request and remove it from the detail view. Deleted items cannot be recovered unless you restore from backup.
Does SpendSmart share data with third parties?
The app does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Machine learning models run entirely on your device. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What devices are supported?
SpendSmart requires iPhone running the minimum iOS version listed on the App Store. It is designed for iPhone and is not optimized for iPad or Mac.
Troubleshooting
Try these steps before contacting support.
App won’t open or crashes on launch
Force quit SpendSmart and reopen it. If the problem continues, restart your iPhone and install the latest version from the App Store. If you recently updated iOS, ensure SpendSmart is updated to the latest build.
My budgets or expenses disappeared
Data is stored per device. Restoring a new phone without an encrypted backup, or using “Offload App” in some cases, can remove local data. Check Settings → General → iPhone Storage → SpendSmart to confirm the app is installed.
ML suggestions seem wrong
On-device suggestions improve with clearer descriptions. Add specific justifications in the Think tab. Suggestions are hints only—you decide what to buy.
